Frequently asked

Planning an event in Koh Samui?

What is the best time of year to hold an event on Koh Samui?

The Gulf Coast side of Koh Samui is generally dry and sunny from December through August. The wettest months are October and November, when short but heavy showers are common. For a corporate event, January through April offers the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas for water activities.

What should attendees pack, and is there a dress code for evening events?

Light, breathable fabrics are ideal given the tropical heat and humidity. Smart-casual is the standard for evening dinners, think linen shirts or sundresses rather than suits. For beachfront events such as fire-circle dinners, smart-casual still applies but open-toed footwear is perfectly acceptable.

How do we cater for dietary requirements, including halal and vegetarian guests?

Koh Samui's larger resort venues are experienced with international groups and can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal requirements with advance notice. Thai cuisine naturally features many vegetable-forward dishes, and resort chefs will work with your event planner to create set menus that work for the whole group.

What is Thailand's alcohol policy for group events?

Alcohol is widely available and can be served at licensed resort venues. Note that Thailand observes Buddhist holiday alcohol bans (for example Makha Bucha and Visakha Bucha days) when sales may be restricted island-wide. Your Midstay Select coordinator can flag any restricted dates that fall within your event window.

How do attendees get around the island once they arrive?

Most resort-based events are largely self-contained, so guests rarely need to leave the property. For excursions such as the Ang Thong marine park tour, private chartered longtail boats or speedboats are arranged through your venue. On the island itself, private minivans or songthaew (shared pickup trucks) are the most practical options for group transfers between venues or the airport.
